New Publications and Resources
Global Framework on Chemicals Issue of Concern on Lead from All Sources nomination. Global Alliance on Health and Pollution. GAHP has nominated lead from all sources as an Issue of Concern under the Global Framework on Chemicals. The public consultation is open until Aug 21, 2026.
Peruvians exposed to lead as children reach $150M settlement, with Catholic help. Brian Roewe. National Catholic Reporter. Doe Run and the Renco Group agreed to pay $150 million to settle a 19-year lawsuit brought by 1,373 Peruvians who alleged they were poisoned as children by the La Oroya smelter. A church-backed study that helped underpin the case found elevated blood lead levels in 97 percent of children under 6. The companies admitted no wrongdoing.

PLF Toolkit Tool 11 introduction webinar. Partnership for a Lead-Free Future. On Aug 13, 2026, PLF will host a webinar to launch Tool 11 on environmentally sound recycling of used lead-acid batteries, covering health and environmental impacts, intervention options, and a Ghana case study.
Lead in the Environment at GSA Connects 2026. Geological Society of America. A hybrid short course at Friedhoff Hall in Golden, Colorado, from Oct 7, 2026 to Oct 9, 2026 will cover lead geochemistry, exposure sources, community engagement, and remediation. In-person and online registration are open.
